Hotel International Brno 4*
Location
The hotel is perfectly located, right in the center, a short distance from the main Freedom Square (Namesti Svobody) in Brno. The hotel also has a back entrance, you don't have to go all the way around it, so you just walk through the passage behind the hotel and you're in the square, where there are many shops, restaurants and cafes. There is a larger parking lot right in front of the hotel for 450 CZK per day outside, 550 CZK per day in garages. So you can reach it comfortably by car. It is about 15 minutes and 1 km on foot from the Main Railway Station. It is another 5 minutes to the bus station and Vaňkovka (shopping center). You're walking through the historic center of the city, so if you're not carrying anything heavy, it's easy to walk.
The hotel is surrounded by historic buildings and you have a direct view of the famous Špilberk Castle, which rises on the hill above the hotel. You can walk through the park below it. From some rooms you can also see the famous St. Peter and Paul Cathedral. The hotel has a long tradition in Brno, but it has been completely renovated, the rooms, lobby and restaurant have a modern design.
Rooms
You can choose from the classic Business room, which is suitable if you are in Brno for work, but also as a couple. Other room types are suites. I will describe our Business room in detail.
Business room
The rooms are modernly equipped, everything looks new and if you get a room with a view of the parking lot in front of the hotel, you can also see Špilberk Castle, which lights up beautifully at night.
There is a carpet in the room, that always makes me happy. A smaller wardrobe with a safe, a full minibar, a kettle with a selection of teas and coffee. Armchair, desk with chair, blackout curtains. The window can be opened for a fan, otherwise there is a panel in the room where you can adjust the temperature and air conditioning. TV with many programs and excellent sound system. Wifi of course.
The bed was very comfortable, with a high quality mattress. The windows don't seal very well, it seemed to me that it was dragging into the room and there was a little noise from outside.
They have something in this hotel that I have not seen anywhere else, and there is really little that surprises me. I really don't like the modern innovation that the bathroom is separated from the room only by glass. I prefer a normal bathroom separated by a wall. According to the photos, it looks like the hotel also has normal bathrooms in other types of rooms. Here, the transparency of the glass is controlled by a button, that's what I haven't seen anywhere, usually there is some kind of curtain. You can either have a transparent shower, so that you shower like in a display case, or you can have a milky glass and only the shadow can be seen. It took us a while to find the button (it's in the bathroom under the mirror).
In the bathroom you will find large packages of hand soap, shower gel and shampoo. There is no conditioner here. In a small package you will find body lotion, a vanity kit, tissues, a hairdryer, a magnifying mirror and a well-lit large mirror. The toilet is separated from the bathroom by a door.
Junior Suite
A bedroom with a living room combined, in which there is a sofa bed, a desk and a coffee table. The equipment is more or less the same as in the Business room, plus there are slippers.
Suite
Living room with separate bedroom, some rooms also have a balcony. Equipment same as junior suite.
Suite with kitchen
Suitable for families and longer comfortable stays. The bedroom is separated from the living room, the kitchen is in the living room. In addition to the work desk, there is also a dining table.
Executive Junior Suite
It is located on the top floor of the hotel. A meeting room for 8 people is freely available for guests on this floor. Soft drinks, beer and wine are free in these rooms. You can book priority check-in, luggage unpacking and office services. In addition to the shower, the bathroom also has a bathtub. This room is equipped above standard - ironing board for trousers, Nespresso coffee machine, DVD player. Ironing of shirts on request again included in the price.
Executive Suite
The same equipment as the previous suite, but the living room is separated from the bedroom. Also on the top private floor.
Wellness Suite
You can choose whether you want this suite for 2 or 4 people (2 bedrooms). The bedroom is separated from the living area. At the same time, there is a whirlpool and an infrared cabin. The rooms have a balcony. They are also on the top private floor.
Food
Lucullus Restaurant
Breakfast restaurant. Breakfast is included in the price of the stay. The breakfast restaurant is located one floor below the reception. Breakfast is served MON-FRI from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., on weekends from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. In the summer, you can also have breakfast on the terrace or you can order a private party or company event here. The selection for breakfast is really very varied: several types of juices, teas and coffees, cereals, yogurts, jams, hams, salamis, cheeses, fruit, vegetables, a hot bar (you can also have an omelette made), a salty bar, a sweet bar, a bar for vegans and food allergies. The only thing that didn't excite me was the pastry, which was obviously baked in the oven and matured more like breadcrumbs, but I didn't have all kinds, only rolls and buns, one can only hope that the other kinds were better.
Siesta Wine Restaurant
Luxury experience restaurant. The onyx wall continues the uniqueness of the well-known Tugendhat villa. The tradition of Czech cuisine is mixed here with international cuisine. In addition to a great gastronomic experience, you can also choose from great wines.
Siesta Bar
A stylish bar is located in the lobby. You can have a drink or a small snack here.
Gusto Plzenka Restaurant
Prestigious restaurant, where you can eat mainly our Czech delicacies, but also dishes of international cuisine. It is stylishly equipped, cozy. We visited this one in person, so I can highly recommend it. The waiters were very professional and friendly, the food was excellent, the beer too, nothing to complain about. I was very pleased when the waiter brought us to the table a selection of appetizers that were not directly specified in the menu and there was a classic ham roll with whipped cream and horseradish, I just had to have it, because you can't find this delicacy in modern restaurants more or less and from desserts they had, for example, a casket with whipped cream. You can order from the menu as well as regular appetizers, such as tartare or roast beef, as well as soup, tenderloin, duck, steak, fish, risotto, salads, meatless dishes and classic desserts such as strudel with vanilla cream, jam bags or ice cream. The steak was absolutely top-notch, they exactly hit the medium rare setting I wanted (it has happened to me many times that even in good restaurants they didn't hit the setting). But don't make the same mistake as us! We were lured here by one specialty that we really want to try, and I haven't come across it in a restaurant yet, namely - Beef tenderloin Wellington. Unfortunately, we did not notice that this dish must be ordered a day in advance, because the meat is marinated and its preparation is more complicated. We were very sorry for that, but at least we learned a lesson and we will definitely not miss this course next time!
Other services
Congress halls and lounges
This hotel is primarily a congress hotel, it has several congress rooms and lounges, a great place for your corporate events in the center of Brno, including accommodation and parking.
Fitness and mini spa
Private SPA is in the suite, see above. If it is free, you can order the SPA even without living there. However, this is a private SPA and is not included in the price of the stay. And the rent is quite high, 4500 CZK in the morning, 6500 CZK in the afternoon.
The air-conditioned fitness center is only for hotel guests. There are both cardio and strength machines. You can go jogging in the park in front of the hotel.
Well, as you can see, the hotel offers quite a lot for your comfortable stay in Brno. I must not leave out the very pleasant and helpful receptionist, who went out of her way to meet us as much as possible, which is not seen very often these days. We were satisfied, so I recommend it with a clear conscience.
